Went to Seoul with Brooke and Sarah. This is our second ‘girls day’ trip of shopping and eating and talking. This time we focused on real breakfast food (though still no-where as good as anything found in America or what I can start making myself once I am positive my fridge won’t go out again) and we ate Subway multiple times (though it wasn’t as good as the one Terry and I ate at on vacation).
We spent a lot of time in Insa-dong this time. Which I have been to, but Sarah and Brooke had not which drained some energies and so instead of going to one of the other areas we planned on we headed back to Itaewon. The cabbie we were graced with was an absolute character. He had old 50’s country on the radio and kept naming off 50’s country and pop and told us he used to be a disco dancer; the kicker is that everytime he finished naming someone he would hit my arm and told me I was his “Sugar, Sugar” and had the boobs of Ingrid Bergman. Sarah and Brooke were having a great laugh through all of this. “Are you married” he asked at which time I am sure that he would have tried to find a drive through chapel if they existed here. It was hilarious. Unfortunately, after we paid and got out he was in an accident! (We think he was looking at us instead of the traffic as another car cut him off! It was aweful…).
Finally we got books and food and drank tea (rested up) and a final tour of an early closing set of shops. I accomplished none of what I wanted to get and see, but it was a great day. I was able to get some great books and found an amazing deal on some tops that are totally Korean. I even found a ton of gift ideas for the upcoming holidays that I should have gone ahead and started buying…
Sunday was also a great day. Just cleaning and laundry and sleeping and reading…I really hope that my internet is working again soon and such.
