Finally went swimming Saturday afternoon. My afternoon student, Kitty, has been asking for me to join her since May and the weekends she asks about and we try to set up never seem to work out. Finally, it has been more crunched with the idea that we HAVE to get going. So, this weekend we finally did. We got to the pool and to note: there is NO modesty in the women’s locker room or sauna, they chill with EVERYTHING on display .Also t he pool requires swim caps for everyone and suggest goggles as well. There wasn’t much of a lifeguard on duty-as in not one at all out in the pool area.
So Kitty and I headed out to the pool and it is all set up in rows and everyone is swimming laps. And that is what we basically do for just over three hours. Swim up and down the pool; race back and forth, piggyback back and forth (I “carried” her on my back), kickboard back and forth, and jump up and down back and forth. My swimming ability is not what it used to be so “running” proved faster against Kitty (though in little kid spirit she still usually beat me).
We had two different older Korean women ask if I was her Oma (mom) and several others laughed and asked if we were having fun (which we obviously were). My loud laugh almost got us removed from the pool and my cheekbone is bruised where her knee accidentally hit it while we used my camera as a dive-find object.
Around the two and a half hour point I realized how wrinkled my fingers were and to answer your question Aunt Sis, Aunt Prim and Grandma: Yes, Kitty’s fingers were wrinkled too as were everyone else’s in the pool… and your other question I will not answer in this blog, but will tell you in person…
Over all three hours was a little too long, but it was super fun and made Kitty very happy and her mother very happy.
