The rest of my Sunday

I sat in the park reading, dozing and talking for six hours today; from 8am till 2 pm and am only slightly sunburned! (applause for sunscreen)

Second iffy thing to happen: when I arrived home from the park my apartment door was wide open and all of my lights were on. Freak me out! And there were three people in the hallway area (the one set I assume were Mr. and Mrs, Landlord) I stopped short looking a little freaked out and gesturing towards my open door and the Landlord set looked at each other and gestured me to go on in! I hesitated and ummmed and the guy goes “lectric” pointing to the circuit box. There was a fifth circuit now in the box. Still as I was un-informed about this I freaked out a little at first.

The rest of the afternoon was cool. Brooke and I headed downtown to, specifically, the foreigner food store, but also stopped in a cheap nice clothing store and the grand opening of this little cosmetics specialty type store (free loofas and make-up bag got us in the store; interesting and good smells kept us looking and, finally, cheap-ish prices got us buying.

As far as clothing goes I am beginning to fall in love with Korean “fashion.” They can and do wear almost anything with anything and are able to get away with it. I don’t understand it, but I’m surrounded by it. However, what is even better is the shirts that either make no sense and/or have spelling, grammar and coherency errors. O! English on shirt! I am high class now! It is fantastic: some of my favorite examples include a shirt that says “I put the high in high school…crackhead teacher” Fabulous!

Finally, my second favorite story of the day: A grand-oma got on the subway and sat down near Brooke. (I cannot sit on subways as I fear nausea). She first looked at me and gestured for me to sit. With a smile I declined and looked back towards Brooke to finish our conversation. A minute later the lady taps me and basically asks if I am pregnant. I told her no (again) Next the Lady was gesturing towards my pants (that are a little long and cover my shoe etc.) She told me to roll them up and fix them (by doing so to her own pants and making a grab at mine. Next thing I know she is gesturing towards her other side (her left-- away from me on my right) Anyway. She had a rip down the seam of her thigh and purple satin boxers trimmed in lace that she was showing me. She got off the subway on the next stop. It was…ya…

Finally, I came home and did some laundry; a normal end to a rather interesting weekend.

Happy Mothers Day!

  1. Sounds like moms are the same all over the world (roll them pants up, sit here, etc.) and as you young 'uns would say "act weird"...heehee You are my reason why I can celebrate this day, wish you were to celebrate with me. Love you very much, Mom
