It got cold again. What a disappointment. I got my Alien Registration Card! That means I can get internet in my apartment; a cell phone to stay in touch with co-workers and others we meet. And if I wanted to a moped/scooter/motorcycle or something that means I could run down pedestrians instead of them running me down. Of course I am not going to get my own transportation here, but I am worried that my toes are going to be run over by a too close taxi.
More random “Thought I should share with you” stories:
-Just like in the states I hate having a curriculum that we have to get through that we never have enough time to actually teach. So, of course, you are trying to rush through it whether the kids understand or not, but I speak fast when I rush and that is never a good idea with kids who don’t necessarily understand what you are saying when you say it slowly. That is a problem that I am not sure how to solve. How I get the kids to tell me when they do not understand. I am trying to use the smallest and simplest words that I can manage when I am with them, but have spent so much time expanding my vocabulary that using certain words is what I do. Example from this paragraph they would not understand: Curriculum, enough, actually, of course, rush, whether, necessarily, problem, solve, simplest, manage, spent, expanding and vocabulary (which they really should know since we use it every day, but can’t seem to remember).
-In the states when you stay at a hotel it is usually the “classier” choice between it and a motel. However, I was informed by a native that a motel is the better place to stay; clean sheets and hot water etc; whereas, a hotel is usually a bad place to stay. Interesting.
