Photos to come...

Hey! So I have arrived safe and sound in Gwang Ju. Even though I read that the city was inhabited by 1.5 million people I didn’t believe how big a city it would be until I am here; and the Koreans think of it as the country side!

Going backwards to begin with…Flew from STL to Chicago and from Chicago to Seoul then took a bus to “my city” where my boss the Director picked us up and brought us to the main school. As far as airport stories I have many, none of which are funny enough yet for me to shed a good light on; let’s just say regulations can be subjective and I was not on the winning end. However, Asiana Airlines is very accommodating and friendly when you are awake enough to notice. As for the bus, not as bad as I expected; A charter type us, highway the entire way and the seats are larger and more comfortable than anything found in the US or Europe. Though Korean drivers-worse than Europeans; Europeans at least obey traffic signals and notice pedestrians. Not Koreans-crosswalks and lights are merely a suggestion and they most definitely do not believe Pedestrians have the right away.

Currently we are in a hotel. Our apartments should be ready in a day or two we have been told. It is called the Riviera, but has been nicknamed the Romance/Love motel. This section of town though safe is not the highest class. The streets are littered with call girl cards and there is a dildo/lube machine on the third floor; like I said High Class.

LCI itself is an expanding academy for Korean elementary children and a few older kids. There will be a second school opening next week and half of the staff will be there and half at the “old” academy. I will find out where I will be based on the location of my apartment/when they tell me Monday. I will give more details when I know and understand more. There is a graduation ceremony on Saturday which is mandatory to attend and will introduce us fully to the children and parents. Until next week I am observing classes and learning my way around…more on co-workers and getting around later as well.

I have not been too adventurous as far as food, yet. I have had Bi-Bap-Bam a couple of times (once on the plane and once for lunch today) and it is just rice, a spicy ketchup-ish sauce and veggies. It is good, yet will take some getting used to as a “normal thing.”

I am currently that person. You know the one who has a story similar to the experience you are currently having. I can compare/do compare and Look for similarities between this and my time in Europe. As well as, being the one who says “whatev” waaaaaay to much…”Just go with the flo—whatev” Also, I have been told (again) that I come across as a bit of an ass at first; which I know; so I began to warn people. I old them that I know I come off as a bitch, but usually it is sarcasm or something so let me know when I am being particularly awful.

This is a lot to read I will probably break this up. Couple more things: I almost didn’t get on the plane in Chicago, but I am okay with the fact that I did. I family sick, but I am already making friends and will be comfortable-ish with the city in no time. I love you all.

LCI works hard towards being a majorly “prestigious” type academy. Each of the classrooms are named after an Ivy League institution: Harvard, M.I.T., Oxford, Yale,

Currently we are observing classes and training. I want to be able to observe as many of the classes as possible and see each teacher’s style. I know that I will develop my own style, but wonder what that will be

Must train more...another post soon
